About Monroe Fire Department:
Monroe Fire Department proudly protects 14000 people living in an area of 82 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential/commercial area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid on call status. We operate 12 pieces of equipment (4 engines, 1 Platform, 2 Tankers, 1 Brush Truck, 1 Squad, 1 Command Car, 1 Inspectors Car, and 1 Parade Truck) out of one station. We respond to approximately 160 calls per year. We provide city and rural Fire Protection, extrication, and second tier First Response. We are authorized 50 on call members plus a full time Chief and full time Battalion Chief/Prevention Officer. Since 1960 we have hosted an annual 3 day fire School at The Green County Fairgrounds each August which has grown to be the largest in the area.
