Yankton also assists when requested, Gayville, Lesterville, Volin, and Irene Fire Departments. Yankton also covers areas in Nebraska, and assists surrounding communities in Nebraska when requested. Yankton also responds to all motor vehicle accidents with in Yankton County and into Nebraska. Yankton has a full time Fire Chief and full time Deputy Chief. Yankton has 41 volunteer personnel, which consist of a 1st & 2nd Assisstant Chief, 4 Captians, a Health & Safety Officer, 2 Firefighter/Paramedics, and 32 Firefighters. Yankton Fire operates 4 Engines, 4 Tankers, a 102' Aerial Platform, a Brush Truck, a Rescue Truck, a FastTac, a 6-wheel ATV, 2 Command Vehicles, a Trench Rescue Trailer, and a Hazmat/Mobile Command Trailer. Yankton also has a small station at Chan Gurney Airport which houses one Engine.
