About Worthington Fire & EMS:
The City of Worthington Division of Fire & E.M.S. proudly protects 25000 people living in an area of 10 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. The Worthington Fire Division has one station with 13 on duty personnel (12 full-time & 1 part-time) manning the station 24 hours a day. Worthington has a very active public education program ranging from regular CPR classes, to juvenile firesetter counselling, child car seat safety inspections, and several tours/public events. Open house is held every year on the first Sunday of fire prevention week, with tours, and demonstrations for the public. Worthington Professional Firefighters I.A.F.F. Local 3498 not only represents most fire personnel and is also active in several causes, such as the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon and a Christmas Firefighter's 4 Kids toy drive. Prior to January 1, 1994, the Worthington Division of Fire was the Sharon Township Division of Fire. Administration of the Department was taken over by the City of Worthington in 1994. The Department serves all of Worthington, the unincorporated areas of Sharon Township, the Village of Riverlea, and a large portion of Perry Township under contract. We also provide automatic response to the surrounding areas including the cities of Westerville & Columbus, and mutual aid to several other areas in Franklin and Deleware Counties. For hazardous materials response we provide an entry team for the NAS-T regional team.
