About West Berlin Fire Company #1:
West Berlin Fire Department, Berlin Twp. proudly protects 5400 people living in an area of 3.5 square kilometers. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. FIRE DISRTICT 1 BERLIN TWP AWARDED $213,579 FIRE GRANT on 3/5/04. The West Berlin Fire Company was incorporated in 1916 and our first piece was a horse drawn soda & acid purchased from another department.Our first motorised piece was a 200-gallon soda & acid purchased in 1918. The departmens was funded mostly through fund raising donations and some funding from the Township. In 1954 Fire District 1 of Berlin Twp. was established and their first budgit was $25,000. Since then through hard work of its members and the Fire District has provided the residents of Berlin Twp the best possable protection at one of the lowest fire tax rates in Camden County.
