Wagon Mound Fire Department proudly protects 1000 people living in an area of 900 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Wagon Mound Fire Department proudly serves 1000 people living in an area of 900 square miles. We operate out of one station that protects primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. In service since around 1923, Wagon Mound started with a bucket brigade. Wagon Mound was sectioned off into quadrants, each quadrant had assigned firefighters who would respond to a fire with their buckets once the fire bell was heard. Now 2002 the Wagon Mound Fire Department proudly serves the town of Wagon Mound and outlying rural ranch areas; Wagon Mound Fire Department also provides service to Northeastern Mora County. Wagon Mound also has mutual-aid with Springer Volunteer Fire Department, Watrous Volunteer Fire Department and New Mexico State Forestry.
