About Bracken Volunteer Fire Department:
Bracken Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 7000 people living in an area of approximately 70 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations and protect a primarily rural area. Our members are a combination of paid and volunteer status. We were formed in 1968. We have 8 fire trucks, 1 rescue truck and 1 utility/support truck that we operate out of 2 stations. Currently, we have 25 active volunteer firefighters and 4 paid fulltime firefighters. We also utilize 7 part-time firefighters. Central Station is located just north of Garden Ridge and is staffed 24 hours a day. Station 2 is located next to Comal Elementary. We have fire drills on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month and rescue drills on the first Tuesday of each month. Feel free to stop by for a visit!
