About Rockledge Fire Department:
Rockledge Fire Department proudly protects 19500 people living in an area of 18 square miles. We operate out of Three stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. The Rockledge Fire Department provides fire and EMS services to a community of approximately 19,500 people. The community consist of light industrial and residential properties. Rockledge is located in Brevard County, Florida approximately 15 miles south/south-west of Kennedy Space Center. The fire department provides as a community service response to vehicle lockouts. It's estimated that this program alone saves the community approximately 45,000 dollars per year. Our department provides hazardous materials response to the community. The program was developed based on our ability to handle 90% of the probable hazardous materials response. Mutual aid is available from Brevard County Public Safety, Fire-Rescue Division. The department has several Advanced Position ICS personnel, certified as trainees through the State Division of Forestry. Currently all officers are certified at the Strike Team/Task Force Leader level. All but two of the officers are certified Division/Group Supervisors. We have two Battalion Chiefs certified as Operations Section Chiefs and one as a Planning Section Chief. We have a certified ICS instructor at the I-200 level and through the Operations Section Chief level. This instructor has provided training in basic ICS to over 180 personnel in the last year, he has provided Strike Team/Task Force training and Division/Group Leader programs for 37 personnel as well. He currently team teaches these courses with the State Division of Forestry as needed.
