About Rainbow City Fire & Rescue:
Rainbow City Fire & Rescue proudly protects 10000 people living in an area of 42 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. We currently employ 14 career Firefighters and 15 Volunteer Firefighters. The Fire Department was started in 1954 as a Volunteer Fire Dept.. In 1978 we started a Paid Fire Dept. with 6 Firefighters and 2 Pumpers. Over the years, we have seen many changes. These changes include the addition of more Firefighters, 4 Pumpers (2 Advanced Life Support), 1 Rescue Truck, 1 Service Truck, 1 Rescue Boat and 2 Staff Vehicles.
