Inc.: Ponder Vol. Fire Dept. Inc. proudly protects 6000 people living in an area of 68 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a private department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Ponder VFD was organized in 1937, by Paul Thomas and purchased their first fire truck in 1938(a '36 Ford).We now have 2 brush trucks,1 engine,1 rescue-booster,and 2 tankers. In 1982 the EMS was started with 5 ECA's running as First Responders. Today we run both EMT'S and Paramedic's with ALS capabilities. The ambulance service is contracted to the Krum FD running 3 MICU's.
