About Dunklin Fire Protection District:
Dunklin Fire Protection District proudly protects 5000 - 10000 people living in an area of 22 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. The Dunklin Fire Protection District is located in Eastern Jefferson County, 30 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri on Interstate 55. We are a progressive department providing Fire and Rescue service, to an urban and rural community. We have a very diverse area to cover which includes highly traveled Interstate 55, small residential communities and some of the largest industrial facilities in Jefferson County, including Dow Chemical Company located near the Mississippi River. We respond to a wide range of emergencies from vehicle accidents to industrial fires. The Dunklin Fire Protection District was formed in 1974 with the merging of the Horine Volunteer Fire Department and the Pevely Valley Fire Department. A tax supported fire district was formed to better serve the residents of the area. Current President of the Board of Directors, Ray Sheets served as the first Chief of the newly formed department. Current Sec./Treas. of the Borad of Directors, Charles Wm. Winford has served on the board since the formation of the district. We sincerely thank these two for their dedication and service to the Dunklin Fire Protection District.
