About Decatur County Fire Department:
Decatur County Fire Department proudly protects 2800 people living in an area of 1200 square miles. We operate out of 3 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Decatur County (Kansas) Fire Department was founded in 1965. Its area of responsibility includes all of Decatur County, Kansas (except the City of Oberlin) and three townships in Norton County, Kansas. Its responsibilities include fire suppression, fire prevention, inspection, search & rescue, weather watching, and m.v.a. extrications. We have three stations: Oberlin, Jennings, and Norcatur. The Oberlin station has 11 volunteers, the Norcatur station has 9 volunteers and the Jennings station has 15 volunteers.
