About Wilkes Rescue Squad:
Wilkes Rescue Squad proudly protects 68000 people living in an area of 756 square miles. We operate out of 3 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Wilkes Rescue Squad is a non-tax supported all volunteer organization that provides rescue service to the citizens of Wilkes County, NC. As rescue providers we provide various rescue services such as: extrication, collapse, trench, water, search, mountain, high level, stand-by service for various agencies, and Paramedic level medical service. Also, as a Paramedic level squad we provide back up for Wilkes County EMS. Sources of income vary. They include county govt. appropriations, United Way of Wilkes, civic group donations, individual donations, business donations, Squad activites such as, picture drives and our annual golf tournament. Our super ladies auxiliary helps us tremendously with fundraising activites.
