New Glarus Fire Department proudly protects 4000 people living in an area of 71 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The department consists of 36 members. There is one Chief of Department and two Assistant Chiefs There are 6 Captains and 6 Lieutenants Three trustees, a secretary and a treasurer complete the make-up of the department The department operates: one brush truck with 200 gallons of water one 1,500 gpm engine with 1,000 gallons of water one 1,000 gpm engine with 750 gallons of water one 1,800 gallon tanker one 1,500 gallon tanker and one heavy resuce
