About Millboro Area Rescue Squad Inc.:
MILLBORO AREA RESCUE SQUAD INC. proudly protects 2500 people living in an area of 275 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our Squad is located in the Alleghany Highlands of Virginia. We are fortunate to be surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains which is both beautiful and adventurous. The Squad was formed in October 1998 when a group of interested community minded people got together to see if it was feasible and possiable. Those people numbered 33 that first night. The Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads was contacted and we were officaly off and running. Amhearst Lifesaving Crew and O.W.L. Fire Dept donated ambulances to get us started. Donations of equipment from as far away as NorthHampton Fire and Rescue were showered upon us. The first call was answered in late June 1999. Since that first call we have grown rapidly. The crew now operates three Ambulances and one rapid response unit. The main crewhall is under construction and should be completed sometime this summer.
