About Milan Volunteer Fire Department:
Milan Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 5000? people living in an area of 45 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Milan Fire Department was estbblished in 1908 by the Milan Town Board it had two members and two chemical tanks. In 1915 Milan installed a water plant. and the Town purchased 4 hose carts. In 1924 Milan purchased a Cadillac Chassis. In 1934 Milan Firemen had the first Firemans ball. In 1939 Milan purchased a Chevrolet Chassis and a 250gpm Howell pump. In 1945 Milan purchased a Ford with a front mounted 350gpm Barton American pump. In 1954 Milan Fire Department made a major organizational change. They seperated from the town and became Incorprated. Also in 1954 Milan purchased there first new truck A 1954 Dodge from American Fire Apparatus In 1961 the Fire Dept. purchased a 1961 GMC Chassis from American Fire Apparatus With a 500gl tank and a 750gpm pump
