The Federal Fire Department Mechanicsburg is located near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and began operations around 1940 when the installation started operations. This department is a 2-engine company operation with a primary responsibility for support to the United States Navy. Some of our duties include fire suppression, EMS/QRS, HazMat, confine space/trench rescue, fire prevention and inspection service, hydrant maintenance, sprinkler & engine company inspections, fire extinguisher inspections & maintenance, fire alarm testing, apparatus maintenance, station clean-up and physical fitness. Through mutual aid agreements, The department provides mutual aid to Hampden Township(station 30), LowerAllen Township(station 12), Mechanicsburg Borough(station(27,28), and Shiremanstown Borough(station 22) on a 1st Alarm basis with several more on a 2nd Alarm basis.
