About McDonough Fire Deparment:
McDonough Fire Services proudly protects 15,000 plus citizens living in approximately 12 square miles. McDonough Fire Department delivers Public Safety services to the residents of McDonough through two fire stations, these services include public education, fire safety inspections, arson investigations, fire suppression, emergency medical first responder, fire fighting and hazardous material response. The McDonough Fire Departmentis made up of a combination of 21 full time and 12 volunteer members. The city currently has an ISO rating of 4 with an average response time of 3-5 minutes. The City of McDonough also has an Automatic Aid agreement with Henry County Fire Department. The McDonough Fire Department for the calendar year of 2005 answered over 1500 calls for assistance. The deparment reached the fiscal year's goal to acquire six additional full time personnel to staff the new Avalon Fire and Police Station located west of I-75. The department also added a full time fire inspector to effectively deal with the fire code enforcement, pre-fire planning and plans review.
