About Conch Key Volunteer Fire Rescue:
Conch Key Volunteer Fire Rescue proudly protects 4500 people living in an area of 15 square miles. We operate out of One stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. The Conch Key Volunteer Fire Rescue department was formed in 1950 by a small group of islanders on Conch Key to protect the residences of the small island against fires. At present it has grown to providing typical fire rescue services and protects other keys adjacent to Conch Key: Duck Key, Grassy Key, & Crawl Key. The major risks the department is charged with protecting are: destination resorts, transient occupancies, marinas, and US Highway 1 with 3 bridges producing numerous major high speed transportation accidents annually.
