About Alabama - Coushatta Indian Nation Volunteer Fire Department:
Alabama - Coushatta Indian Nation Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects approximately 3900 people living in an area of approximately 900 square miles. We operate out of one station located inside the reservation this stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our department is an all volunteer fire department which has been in existence since 1974. In 1974 our department was established with four members and a 1974 Ford fire engine, which is still in service today and is performing as it did over twenty-five years ago. Over the spand of twenty-five years, our membership has grown to twenty-nine dedicated men and women from the reservation, all of whom are Native American. The backbone of our department is the continued strong support from our tribal council, our tribal members, and the surrounding communities in which we serve. Without the help from these groups of great individuals and especially of our familie members, the Alabama - Coushatta Indian Nation Volunteer Fire Department would not have survived, nor would we be able to grow into the department that we are today. At this time we would like to say thank you. Thank you to our families and friends that have encouraged us to keep this great organization going strong and for the support that they have given throughout the years. Thank you to all men and women that are in the Fire and E.M.S. professions, for your dedicated, unselfishness and proud work that you may be called upon to do. And to all of your supporters, wherever you may be. May God bless you and keep you. THANK YOU
