About Marydel Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.:
MEMORIAL VOL. FIRE DEPT. proudly protects 1500 people living in an area of 150 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. In 1954 days after a hurricane battered the beach a fire destroyed a business.Town residents decided that a fire truck was needed to help until areas depts. could get there. With $300 donated by town residents a 1926 American Lafrance pumper was bought from a member of Ellendale Fire Co. This was the start of the Slaughter Beach Fire Co. and was re-organized and re-incorporated in 1958 as the MEMORIAL VOL. FIRE DEPT.
