About Limestone Volunteer Fire Department:
The Limestone Volunteer Fire Department is a group of men and women that proudly protect approx. 2000 people living in an area of 42.29 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are 100% volunteer. Our residences are spread out over the entire 42.29 miles. Most of the territory we cover is woodland along with some of the Allegany State Park area and some of the Seneca Nation of Indian's Allegany Reservation. We provide firefighting, rescue and ambulance service to this area.
New York Senator Pat McGee was a great friend to our fire department. Thru her office we received a grant towards the construction of our Fire Station One, built in 2000. We also received a grant from Pats office providing us with the 2004 John Deere Gator, which has been a great help in both rescues and forest/brush fires. Senator McGee passed away on April 2, 2005. We will miss her as our Senator, but more than that, we'll miss her as the great person that she was.
