We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. The Liberty FD is a combination department with 13 paid and 20 volunteers. Paid personnel are trained as firefighters/paramedics and receive certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and the Texas Dept. of Health. Volunteers receive training and are certified through the State Fireman's and Fire Marshal's Association. Paid personnel consist of 2 administrative and 11 shift personnel, the shifts work 24 hrs on 48 off. Volunteers are on call via pagers. Paid personnel perform primary EMS duties and fire protection, Volunteers members supplement the fire suppression activities. EMS, Fire Protection and Education, Emergency Management, Code Enforcement and the Fire Marshal's Office are divisions within the department. The department also provides rescue services. Hazardous Material response is also provided. LFD responds to HAZMAT incidents in Liberty County and Northern Chambers Co. along I-10.
