About Lena Volunteer Fire Department:
Lena Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 5200 people living in an area of 98 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Lena Volunteer Fire Department was founded In 1869 and has a long history of service to our community. The Fire Department was supported by the Village of Lena until 1948 when the Lena Fire Protection District was formed. The Fire Protection District is composed of the Villages of Lena, Eleroy,and Waddams Grove, and encompases a total of 98 square miles in 6 diferent townships in Stephesnson and JoDaviess counties.Our regular monthly meeting is the third Monday of each month, and we practice and drill several times each month. We stress Fire Prevention in our schools and in our community.
