About Lacey Fire District Three:
Lacey Fire District Three proudly protects 70000 people living in an area of 70 square miles. We operate out of 7total; 3ea 24/7; 4ea Vol stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. Lacey Fire District Three has a proud 52 years of history contributing the quality of life in our community; exemplifying a service ethic; being careful stewards of public resources; performing professional, efficient and compassionate service; promoting individual and agency progress in training and technology; approaching problem-solving collaboratively; being good neighbors; listening; taking pride in our work; and leading by example. This is all accomplished by 50 career firefighters, 60 volunteers, 15 career support staff, and 60 other volunteers (Fire Investigators, Rangers, Receptionsists, Public Educators, and Administrative Support personnel. Our 2000 Budget is only at $5.4 million, and a fleet of: *Engines= 10; 7 front line; 3 reserve (2=1994; 2=1989; 3=1979; 3=1971) *Ladder trucks=0 *Water tender=1; 1991 2,500 gals *Brush/Rescues=4; 1991 *Aid Unit=1; 1999 *Command Unit=2; 1996 & 2000 *Incident Support Unit=1; 1994 *Staff autos=6 *John Deere Dozer=1 1980 LFD 3 makes about 25,000 public safety education contacts annually. LFD3 firefighters are active in the community in: The Adopt-A-Family Program. The Children's Reading Program. The Muscular Dystrophy fundraising ($10,000 + annually). We have served efficiently and effectively for 52 years. Protecting over 70,000 lives and over $3 billion in property value. LFD3 covers 70 square miles with 7 stations, (3ea. 24/7 & 4ea. volunteer). Consistently providing high quality service at an operating cost about 1/2 the per capita cost of comparable jurisdictions. LFD3 is now respond ing to 87% more calls in 1990; with only a 30% increase in staffing... both in career and volunteer members. The number of emergency calls has increased from 64 per 1,000 population in 1990 to 93 per 1,000 in 1999. Over 6,500 incidents per year.. once every 81 minutes a LFD3 response team is on the way to help someone in our community.
