We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our department (10 Charley) has been in service for almost 19 years. We receive all our training from the Hawaii County Fire Dept once per month. Training is conducted on the first Thursday of each month aa 1630 hrs. at our station (Station 18) on Paradise Dr. Station 18 is manned 24 hrs a day buy 1 yes 1 full time county firefighter which responses for all calls fire, ems, auto accident, haz mat,using our pumper ( Engine 18 ) we serve as his support. Our district covers three subdivisions Hawaiian Paradise Park, Orchidland,and Ainaloa. We also respond to calls in other districts in the large Puna area of the Big Island.
