We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a private department whose members are on a volunteer status. Smith Valley Fire District extends from the city of Kalispell west along Hwy 2 and covers approx. 110 sq. miles. At the present time we have 24 members that run from 2 stations. Our equipment includes 3 Type 1 Engines and 2 Type 2 Water Tenders. A new fire Station will be under construction in early spring 2007. This will replace our older main station that we have out grown. Along with the station we are adding a 4th Type 1 CAFS Engine and a 3rd Type 2 Tender.
