About Hopelawn Engine Co. #1:
Hopelawn Engine Co. #1 proudly protects 4000 people living in an area of 1.8 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Organized in December 1914, we have been in operation for 94 years. The all volunteer company handles about 350 calls per year. The Company is operated under the District #8 Board of Fire Commissioners. Our coverage area includes many highways including the Garden State Parkway, Route 9, and Route 440. We are mainly a residential community with 90 businesses of varying size. We operate a Rescue/Cascade truck with a full compliment of extrication equipment including air bags. It has a fixed bottle cascade system capable of filling about 90 bottles on scene. The Company sponsors Explorer Post #8 which has a compliment of 10 members ranging in age from 14 - 17.
