About Holloway Terrace Volunteer Fire Company:
Holloway Terrace Volunteer Fire Company proudly protects 7000 people living in an area of 6 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Holloway Terrace was the first fire company in Delaware to put into service a water rescue unit. The Delaware River is in the fire and rescue district. Holloway Terrace was the first company in the state to have an air cascade system on the rescue unit. Today Holloway Terrace has 8 members on their underwater dive team serving all of New Castle County,DE. Chief Emeritus John V. Ryan was instrumental in starting the Delaware Valley Fire Chiefs Association and was the association's first President. Holloway Terrace had two members serve as Presidents of the Delaware Volunteer Firemens Association; John V. Ryan (1961) and Edwin S. Barlow (1991).
