Hewlett Bay Fire Department proudly protects 15000 people living in an area of 4.5 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Hewlett Fire department was formed on 9/23/1891 with 1 Piano box hand pumper (which still works and on display at the fire house). Today we have 2 engine companies,1 hose co, 1 ladder company, 1 heavy rescue, and 1 ambulance.
