We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a private department whose members are on a paid status. PROUD TO BE HARLAN COUNTY'S FIRST ALS PROVIDER..... Mountain E.M.S., Inc. is a private Kentucky corporation founded in 1995 and began operation as a Kentucky licensed BLS ambulance service in December of that year as a result of needs expressed by the community in a health needs assessment conducted by the University of Kentucky Rural Health Project and Appalachian Regional Health Care. Prior to that time, health transport was primarly provided throughout the county by area funeral homes. Mountain EMS is happy to provide speakers, lecturers, or participants to any community groups, civic organizations, or schools, just contact our office.
