About Foothills Fire & Rescue:
Foothills Fire & Rescue proudly protects 5000 people living in an area of 30 square miles. We operate out of 5 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. We are a mostly a volunteer department that reponds to aproximately 600 calls a year. Most of our calls are on I-70. Our district covers Mount Vernon Caynon area, which I-70 runs through with an average grade of eight percent. Our avarage square footage for residential homes in our district ranges from 700 sq. feet to 17,000 sq. feet. We have numerous commercial structures. Many of these structures are radio transmitter sites and additions of new commercial buildings are growing . All of our structures lie in heavy brush conditions and pose a threat in wildland fires. We work in close conjuction with Genesse, Pleasant View, Evergreen, West Metro, and Golden Fire Departments. We we rely on the dedicated EMS service that the Highland Rescue Team provides. Many of our volunteers are a part of the North Jefferson Counnty Wildland Team and participate in many of the state wide wild fires. We have a dedicated Rope Rescue Team as well. We have a variety of calls that consist of many auto-extrications, rope rescue, wildland fires, structure fires, fire alarms, medical calls, etc.
