Our department is a private department whose members are on a paid on call status. Gibson Area Ambulance Service is a ALS service that is based out of Gibson Area Hospital. The service mainly covers rural area that includes Gibson City, Sibley, Melvin, Elliott, Harpster, Garber, and Foosland. G.A.A.S. runs approximately 800 calls a year. Since the service is based out of Gibson Area Hospital, the service takes a lot of transfers out of the hospital to larger hospitals located about 35 minutes away.
