About Georgetown County Emergency Medical Service:
Georgetown County Emergency Medical Service proudly protects 50000 people living in an area of 775 square miles. We operate out of Three stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. Our department is lead into service by E.M.S. Director Lewis Dugan EMT-Intermediate. We run five ALS units out of three stations, with a total of thirty three employees. As well as ALS service we also perform extrication & rope rescue to better serve our areas needs. Our response area is predominantly rural, but also includes industry including: International Paper Co., and Georgetown Steel Corp., and 3V Chemical Facility. We also provide assistance for the City and County Fire Depatments in the area, and the Coast Guard Station, and Winyah Rescue Squad, both provide water rescue services in and around our harbour town.
