About Ft. Carson Fire Department:
Ft. Carson Fire & Emergency Services proudly protects 105719 people living in an area of 650 square miles. We operate out of 5 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. The Fire and Emergency Services has 64 full-time paid firefighters, 5 fire stations, a Fire Prevention / Investigation Bureau, and a Training/Safety Bureau. Nick named The Mountain Post it is bordered by Colorado Springs on the north, State Highway 115 on the west, I-25 on the east, and Pueblo Colorado to the south. The Mountain Post is comprised of some 650 square miles to include the remote Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site (PCMS) and resides in portions of five separate counties. Ft. Carson proper, has 215 square miles of forested and mountainous terrian of an extremely dry nature. The area is constantly used for training. The use of explosives, artillery, and pyrotechnics adds to the fire expectancy and severity. Fire & Emergency Service's jurisdiction includes a Public Safety Answering Point, (E-911 System). The cantonment area is serviced by two multipurpose stations. Two additional multi-purpose stations, located at Butts Army Airfield and Turkey Creek Ranch service downrange areas as well. The fifth multi-purpose station located at PCMS.
