About Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Dept.:
Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Dept. Inc. proudly protects 2500 people living in an area of 30 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Eastern Garrett was formed in 1967 by community members who realized it was time to start there own station, prior to this the Finzel area was covered by the Frostburg and the Grantsville V.F.D.'s. Over the years Eastern Garrett continues to grow with our biggest event being our monthly spaghetti dinner , with 1996 serving over 13,000 people, the dinner is held on the second saturday of every month from 4-8 pm. The proceeds from the dinner go into updating equipment as well as general needs of the department. We also use Frequencies: 158.775-High Band Alert 33.68-Low Band Channel 2 33.78-Allegany Co.
