Freeport Fire Dept proudly protects 7200 people living in an area of 26 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid on call status. The Freeport Fire Dept. established in 1898 has been protecting the citizens of Freeport for the past 103 years. In the past 19+ years the town has seen a drastic change from industry to retail, with over 150 retail outlets in town. With the retail outlets the town is visited by over 1 million tourist each year. With this amount of visiters the Fire Dept. has seen an increase in emergency runs for both EMS and Fire. All new business's are required to have full alarm systems in place and most with sprinklers. A major majority of these alarms are tied directly to the municipal alarm system.
