About Fredonia Fire Department:
We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our average time to a fire from time of page out, is 4 minutes. The Fredonia Fire Department is located on the N-W corner of Main Street (89-A) and Brown Street, approximately 7 miles south of Kanab, UT. We are priarily a residential community which borders BLM and Sate Lands. We are in a high desert area, prone to large brush fires. We work with the Kanab Fire Department on mutual responce calls. Our EMS comes out of Utah with Kane County Ambulance service, we do provied first responce with seven EMT's that live in Fredonia on a page out system. We have quite a bit of trafic in the summer months , we are on the main road to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (Hwy 67). We also see quite a bit of trafic headed to Lake Powell, boats and people from the west. Also we are in close proxcimity to Zion, Brice, Ceader National Parks, so we have a lot of trafic coming through our small Town. We have a great system of Hydrants in our Town, they are placed every 625 feet along the roads, in the developed parts of our community. We have a 6500 gal water tender for the arreas that we have little or no water.
