About Fairbury Volunteer Fire Department:
Fairbury Rural Fire Department proudly protects 1645 people living in an area of 200 square miles. We operate out of One stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Fairbury Rural Fire Department is staffed by 30 Volunteer Firefighters. Our response area consists of flat farm ground to very rugged/rocky hills. We provide Mutual Aid to members of the 3and33 Mutual Aid Association. As the Districts south boundry is the Nebraska Kansas State line we also respond to Mutual Aid calls into Washington and Republic Counties in Kansas. Our department along with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office,The Fairbury Police Department, Jefferson County Ambulance District 33, and the Fairbury City Fire Department operate a heavy resuce truck. This truck was provided to the Fairbury Jefferson County Area by the Salvation Army through a trust set up by Adam Wagner. This service had been operational since the late 1970's. The Jefferson County Rescue accepted delivery of a new heavy rescue truck in June 1999. During the fall of 1999 our district also took in the Village of Endicott, Ne for it's Fire proctection.
