About Erie Fire Protection District:
The Erie Fire Protection District serves over 120 square miles and is made up of 27 volunteer Firefighters, and 25 EMT's. The department consists of two Ambulance's, seven Fire/Rescue trucks, and one boat. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are all volunteers. The Erie Ambulance was established in 1976 as a BLS service. The service then upgraded to ILS in 1992. We are through the ILLINI MOBILE INTENSIVE CARE PROGRAM at ILLINI Hospital in Silvis IL. Both of our rigs have AED'S with the capability of sending telemetry. We have 25 medics on our service, the medics rotate being on call for 12 hour shifts. Three medics respond to calls when they are on call. The average response time is three minutes from the time we are paged out until the time the rig is on the road. We are very proud of the people who volunteer their time to help the persons in the district.
