About Emporia Volunteer Fire Department:
Emporia Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 20000 people living in an area of 302 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Emporia Volunteer Fire Department proudly serves the citizens of the City of Emporia and County of Greensville (VA). Our Department was chartered in 1935. We have had a successful Cadet firefighter program since 1985. The majority of our firefighters possess Firfighter I and above. Our annual call volume generally exceeds 400 runs. We have moved into a new station as of October 1997. The new stataion will be a great assest to the firefirghters and to the community. In 1997 the Departments Average firefighter per call was 14.
