About Elgin Fire Rescue:
Elgin Fire Rescue proudly protects 1500 people living in an area of 25 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. We are an all volunteer department 20 Firefighters strong. The largest volunteer fire department in Comanche County. We started out as just a fire department and in the past 5 years have gone to a fire rescue department. Over 3/4 of the men on our department are first-responders and we have 1 paramedic and one Basic EMT. Most of our fires are rural grass fires but the majority of our calls are in medical nature. We have a Jaws of Life and an AED. We are recognized by the state of Oklahoma as a Fire Rescue Department.
