About Dyer Volunteer Fire Department Inc.:
Dyer Volunteer Fire Department Inc. proudly protects 20000 people living in an area of 6.2 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid on call status. The Dyer Fire Department was organized in 1915. We started off with a two wheeled hose cart which was purchased for $55.00. It was designed to hold 100 ft. of hose and it took four or five men to pull it. We still have the hose cart it is displayed in our town hall. We have come along ways since 1915, we have 11 pieces of equipment from a 110 ft. aerial Tower to light and heavy rescue trucks to two 1500 G.P.M. pumpers, and also our pride and joy a 1939 Seagraves.
