About Duquesne Emergency Medical Service:
City of Duquesne Emergency Medical Service proudly protects 25000+ people living in an area of 2.7 square miles. We operate out of one stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. City of Duquesne EMS is a combination paid/volunteer service operating 24 hours a day. Staffing includes professional paid paramedics, and EMT's supplemented by an on call volunteer base. City of Duquesne EMS responds to approximatly 1800 calls for assistance annually, and provides emergency mutual aid to several surronding communities. Recently, we have added a wheelchair van to our fleet, now totaling four vehicles. We also began recently doing ALS emergency and nonemergent interfacility transfers. New in Sept of 2001, DEMS will be replacing current medic 567 with an 2001 model for transports, and sending 567 out for refurb.
