DOWNERS GROVE FIRE DEPARTMENT proudly protects 58000 people living in an area of 14 square miles. We operate out of 4 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. Our department went through a tremendous change back in 1992 went we eliminated our paid on call force and went 100% paid. As a result, we had to hire 37 new full time members over a two year period.
