About 132nd Fighter Wing Fire Department-Iowa Air National Guard:
We operate out of one stations that protect a primarily airport area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. The current 132 F.D. is a direct descendant of the Des Moines Municipal (later International) Airport Crash-Fire-Rescue established in 1973. A staff comprising State of Iowa employees and traditional Air National Guard members provide 24 hour fire protection to civilian and military flight operations, as well as first response to EMS and structural fire alarms within the confines of the airport. DSM is an FAA Index C airport.
