About Leatherwood Fire & Rescue:
Leatherwood Fire & Rescue proudly protects 1800 people living in an area of 8 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Leatherwood Fire & Rescue is a small department located in southeastern Kentucky. We provide service to the citizens of south Perry county along with our neighboring departments. The department was formed in 1978 to provide coverage to the rural area of our county with a grant from the state government and a fire truck donated from Hazard Fire Department. We do not have a municipal water system but the South Perry Fire & EMS Assosciation is working very hard to provide this basic necessity for our citizens.
