About Danforth Fire Department:
Danforth Fire Department proudly protects @1400 people living in an area of @250 square miles. We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Danforth Fire Department is a small department with @ 12 active members. We have a large and diverse area to cover. The area consists of downtown businesses, residences, apartments, seasonal dwellings, a nursing facility, small commercial buildings, fields and extensive woodlands. We also have Eastern Maine Railway and US Route 1 running through our coverage area. The department provides coverage to 3 unorganized territories and 2 other municipalities, giving us the approx. 250 sq. miles. We also provide mutual aid to 3 other communities. Extrication is provided to all these areas as well. The department and the town have recently moved into a new station that will meet our current and future needs. The new station is @3500 sq ft with 5 bays, training/meeting room, laundry room and a mezzanine for storage.
The department has 2 pumpers, 1 pumper/tanker, 1 tanker, and 1 support vehicle. The department recently took ownership of a Rescueboggan for winter rescues on the numerous miles of snowmobile trails and has also purchased basic water rescue equipment.
