About Cudahy Fire Department:
Cudahy Fire Department proudly protects 19000 people living in an area of 4.75 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. The City of Cudahy has a well diversified mix of residential, commercial, and heavy industrial occupancies. Along with this mix, we have the special hazards of 2.5 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, several major aircraft approach and departure routes directly over the city, and two major rail lines running the city's lenght. We provide fire suppression, emergency medical, and special rescue ( high level rope, confined space, dive/water rescue) as primary operational services. Our primary service area is bounded by the City of Saint Francis to the north, the City of South Milwaukee to the south, Lake Michigan to the east, and General Mitchell International Airport to the west. We also support three other cities in our Zone for working fires and/or high hazard occupancies, through a Full Assignment agreement. This differs from the traditional mutual aid, in that the response of specific equipment and manpower is automatic when requested by the propietary department. This response increases our fire service area to 41 square miles and a population base of approximately 75,500 persons.
