About Creston Fire Department:
Creston Fire Department proudly protects 10200 people living in an area of 216 square miles. We operate out of one station that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a combination of paid and volunteer status. The Creston Fire Department was established in 1871 by the Knights of Pythias. Presently we occupy a modern station erected in 1978 and are equipped with five apparatus. The duty shift is the 56 hours per week three platoon system with 24 on and 48 off. Our coverage ranges from residential through commercial, manufacturing and rural. Creston is situated at the intersection of two major highways, US25 & US34, and at the highest point (thus the Crest in Creston) between the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail line. World renowned brands that are manufactured in Creston include Veg-A-Peel food processing equipment, Bunn-O-Matic coffee makers, Trolli and Gummi Bear candy, as well as an aerospace parts foundry.
