We operate out of 7 stations that protect a primarily residential area. The Coral Springs Fire Department protects the 12th largest city in the state of Florida. Our paid personnel provide EMS, rescue and suppression services, as well as a full range of prevention and inspection services. Our department is led by CHIEF DONALD HAUPT, JR., recently arrived from a five year tenure as Chief of the City of Norfolk Fire Department. The fire department has had the highest citizen approval rating of any city service, by an independent survey organization, for the last three years. The department averages over 13,000 fire and EMS responses each year. The EMS division has been widely recognized for it's innovative programs, excellent response times ( 94.7% in six minutes or less), and community service efforts. It's success has led to the City winning the Governor's Sterling Award and National recognition For it's Time = Life Showcase. The City has it's own state certified training facility, which graduated it's first class of state certified firefighter II's in June, 2000. The department is under contract to provide both fire and EMS services to the neighboring City of Parkland via two Coral Springs staffed stations. During Fire Prevention month, career staff visit every elementary and pre- school in the city. Using a special smoke trailer throughout the year, they also educate the children of our city in exit drills, home fire safety and 911 notification.
